The Byporten hotel has been nicknamed the Airport Hotel because you can walk from the airport express train (which arrives at the central railway station) to the hotel without even going outdoors. The Byporten is a member of the Scandic chain, whichmeans that standards are very high, as is customer satisfaction. The 240 guest rooms are medium sized and are in very good condition. They are designed with Scandic's enviroment friendly concepts in mind and contain light, modern Scandinavian-style furniture. Most of them enjoy panoramic views of the Oslo fjord and all feature high-speed internet. The hotel itself does not have a restaurant on its premises, but it cooperates with the neighbouring Restaurant "Egon," where guests can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is, however, a bar located at the lobby and next to it there is a playroom, so guests with young children can enjoy a drink while keeping an eye on them. Overall general the hotel has excellent transport links and is suitable for business travellers, families and couples.
