    Oslo Airport & Getting Around

    Oslo Gardermoen International Airport

Oslo Gardermoen International Airport (OSL) is Norway's largest and bussiest airport with over 17 million passengers each year. It is located in Ullensaker, about 48km North of Oslo. Gardermoen also has the largest duty free shop in Europe. As Norway is not an EU member, passengers can take advantage of full duty free deals.

The best way to get to and from the airport is by train. The FlytoGet high-speed train service covers the 48km to Oslo in 19 mins. The fare for the train is 160 Kroner (approx. £13). There are also bus services to Oslo city centre - Flybussekspressen and the Oslo Airport Express Coach (Flybussen). The bus services cost approx. £5.

    Oslo Sandefjord, Torp International Airport

Oslo Sandefjord, Torp International Airport (TRF) is located in the municipality of Sandefjord 110km from Oslo. The airport is small but has been growing steadily, catering mainly for the budget airlines such as Ryanair. There are plans to build a railway station close to the airport but as of now buses are the only method of transport to and from the airport. The buses 'Torp-Ekspressen' run roughly every hour and are synchronised with the arrival and departures of flights. The approximate cost for a one way fare is £13.

    Oslo General Transport

Oslo is a relatively small city and parking can be quite expensive in the city centre however, the public transport system is superb and very efficiently operated. There are 50 bus lines and 8 tram routes all radiating from Oslo's central train station. The subway (Oslo T Bane) has five lines covering all of the city. All the public transport servies operate between 5:30 am and 12 midnight. The 'TouristTicket' allows unlimited travel for 24 hours, whilst the 1,2 and 3-day passes allow unlimited travel on any public transport and include free museum admissions together with other discounts. There are ferry services to the harbour islands operating between April and September linking the City Hall with the island of Bygdøy.
